How many goals did Gareth Bale score, how many trophies did he win and other landmarks?

Gareth Bale holds his Young Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year trophies during the PFA Player of the Year Awards 2013 at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London.

Planet Sport crunches the numbers on Gareth Bale's illustrious career after he announced his retirement from football aged 33.

Bale bowed out of international football at the highest level by playing in a World Cup, even though Wales went home early in a disappointing return to the tournament.

At a domestic level, the Tottenham star was bought by Real Madrid for a then world record fee of £85.1million and would go on to spend nine years at the Bernabeu.

Even though his time in the Spanish capital was full of ups and downs, he would depart after becoming the most decorated British player to grace foreign shores.
The attacker was central to four of the five Champions League titles won by Madrid during his spell and memorably scored a wonder goal in the triumph over Liverpool in 2018.

The goals

41 - A Wales men's team goalscoring record, eclipsing the previous best of 28 by Ian Rush.
17 - Became Wales' youngest ever goalscorer on October 7, 2006 - scoring against Slovakia in a Euro 2008 qualifier with a trademark free-kick.
106 - Goals scored at Real Madrid

2 - Free-kicks. Deadly set-pieces at Euro 2016 saw Bale become the first player to score two free-kicks at a European Championship since Germany's Thomas Hassler in 1992.
58 - Became the first Wales player to score at a major international tournament for 58 years with his swerving free-kick against Slovakia.
64 - Bale became the first Wales player to score at a World Cup for 64 years in Qatar. The previous goal had been scored by Terry Medwin against Hungary at the 1958 World Cup in Sweden.
