Harry Kane: It’s no good us beating Manchester City if we can’t beat Burnley

Kane says Tottenham must maintain the standards they set against the league leaders when they face relegation-threatened Clarets in midweek.

Kane scored twice to earn Spurs a dramatic 3-2 win over City, whose lead at the top was cut to six points after Liverpool came from behind to defeat Norwich earlier in the day.
City looked to have snatched a draw right at the death as Riyad Mahrez converted a penalty following Cristian Romero's handball.

However, there was still time for Kane, in the fifth minute of stoppage time, to rescue a famous victory for Spurs as he headed Dejan Kulusevski's cross beyond Ederson.

The England captain showed the club he looked set to join last summer what they missed out on as City's 15-game unbeaten run was ended. And he felt the hard-earned victory had got Spurs' league campaign back on track.

Kane told Sky Sports: "To grind out the result we did was very special. "Everyone was outstanding and credit to everyone for bouncing back after a tough week.

"We have high standards of ourselves and have got ourselves in a position where we can really fight for the top four.
"The performance we put out there today shows we are fighting to the end. Hopefully we can use this as momentum going forward.
"What we have to learn is how to be more consistent over a long season. If we want to be competing in the top four, it (performances) has to be on a consistent basis.
"We have got Burnley away in midweek. They are fighting for their lives, so we know it will be a tough one."

City boss Pep Guardiola twice saw his team overturn deficits, with captain Ilkay Gundogan having earlier cancelled out Kulusevski's fourth-minute opener.

And he said the result only served to underline his view that the title race was far from over.
He said: "I didn't need to lose a game today to know it (how hard it is to win the league).
"There are many, many games to play and people are going to drop points.
"We are now going to enjoy the Champions League at home and train to prepare for the next games."
