New Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly has met with Cristiano Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes last week, with the future of the current Manchester United forward among the subjects discussed.

The two men are understood to have met in Portugal, as uncertainty continues to grow over Ronaldo's next destination.

Chelsea and Bayern Munich have been linked with the 37-year-old, who is understood to be unhappy with Man United's lack of activity in the summer transfer window.

Boehly and Mendes discussed the future of Ronaldo, although it is unclear whether the Blues will pursue the United forward, according to The Athletic.

Man United boss Erik ten Hag has remained adamant about planning for the 2022/23 campaign with Ronaldo at the forefront of his new project.

After his final game in charge of Ajax, he told the media: "What I have to say about it is, the detailed analysis still has to begin, I still have to work with the team, but let me be clear that at United there are a lot of good players around. We have to make them function as a team but definitely Ronaldo, he is a giant."
In a total of 38 games last season, Ronaldo scored 24 goals across all competitions and represented the only positive spark during a dark year for the Red Devils.
A number of players have now left the club, including Paul Pogba who is set to play for Juventus next season.
While new signings are yet to arrive at Old Trafford, Man United are continuing negotiations with Barcelona over Frenkie de Jong.
However, the deal has proved problematic, with the player publicly revealing his desire to stay at Camp Nou. The second issue concerns United's failed attempt to meet Barcelona's valuation.
Another name closely linked with a move to Manchester is Ajax star Antony, although progress remains slow.
