Finn Dahmen eyes exit from Bundesliga side Mainz 05
Mainz 05's talented young goalkeeper, Finn Dahmen, has revealed his plans to leave the club at the end of the Bundesliga season.
In an interview with Bild, Dahmen stated, "I've been playing second fiddle to Robin Zentner for too long. It's time for me to assert myself as a number one and find regular playing time."
The 24-year-old, who began his youth career at FC Bierstadt and Eintracht Frankfurt before joining Mainz's academy in 2008, made his professional debut for the club against Bayern Munich in January 2021.
"Mainz have chosen Robin over me several times in recent years. I believe my time at Mainz has come to an end and it's time for me to move on," said Dahmen.
The talented goalkeeper is open to a move to the 2. Bundesliga or even a foreign club, as long as the goalkeeping coach, playing style, and chances of playing align with his career aspirations.
"The league doesn't play a big role. Of course, I'd love to play in the Bundesliga, but I'm open to other options as well. The most important factors for me are the goalkeeping coach, playing style, and opportunities for playing time," said Dahmen.
Dahmen has already shown his abilities, playing the last six games for Mainz while Zentner was out with an injury.
With his sights set on becoming a number one, Dahmen is ready to take on the world and prove his worth as a top-class goalkeeper.
