The Sky Blues are eager to keep their top scorer but he now appears to be on his way to Portugal, despite the club having placed a high price tag on him.
Planet Sport reported in June that the player preferred a move to Lisbon, with the club hierarchy confident about their chances.
Nevertheless, speculation has persisted in England that Everton were hopeful of securing his services, with Leeds also rumoured to be interested.
Rumours of Leeds United making a move are wide of the mark but the Toffees did approach Coventry City to explore a deal.
The Swedish striker scored 22 goals last season and laid on 12 assists last season, taking his goal involvement tally at the club to 60.
Local reports suggest Lisbon's latest bid has priced their competitors out of a move.
Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano has shared the deal is taking time due to Coventry standing firm on their high asking price, but expects a deal to be concluded shortly.
