Ex-Everton midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson hasn’t agreed a move to DC United just yet

Despite reports, Planet Sport understands that ex-Everton midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson is yet to receive an official offer from DC United.

DC United are currently in talks with ex-Everton midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson, according to reports.
The 33-year-old former Iceland international left Everton at the end of the 2021-22 season and has been without a club since.
The MLS club are seeking an attack-minded player to play in front of Mateusz Klich and Lewis O'Brien in the centre of the park.
Jesse Lingard was also a target for Rooney's side and could still be viable given the minimal cost of signing Sigurdsson.

If they are to strike a deal, sources believe he'll be paid a nominal amount in his first year until he proves himself.

DC has held an interest in the ex-Everton man for a while and previously approached him in 2020.

Sigurdsson would also join ex-Crystal Palace, Liverpool and Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke in the US capital.

United manager Wayne Rooney will be familiar with the attacking midfielder from the time they spent together at Goodison Park during the 2017-18 season.

Despite some reports in the British press that a deal has been agreed, talks are still in the preliminary stages.
The MLS club are exercising caution over the move and according to a source has even hired an outside firm to investigate the player's background.
The Sun is reporting that the Icelandic national was due to fly to DC on Monday to wrap up the deal, but that's wide of the mark.
Planet Sport understands that no official offer has been tabled yet, but talks are expected to continue in the coming days.
DC United currently occupy the ninth and final play-off still in the MLS Eastern Conference standings.
