Erik ten Hag to sell 11 Manchester United players to raise £100m for transfers
Erik ten Hag may put 11 players up for sale to overhaul Manchester United.
Manchester United are set to offload 11 players as manager Erik ten Hag aims to generate over £100million in transfer fees to revamp his squad.
To make room for desired new additions, the squad needs to be streamlined. Long-serving defenders Axel Tuanzebe and Phil Jones have already departed upon the expiration of their contracts.
Goalkeeper David de Gea is also expected to leave as a free agent after declining the club's contract offer.
Dean Henderson is likely to depart permanently, with Nottingham Forest interested in acquiring him following his loan spell.
Manchester United could potentially receive around £25million in a transfer fee for him. Defenders Alex Telles and Eric Bailly, returning from loan spells, are considered prime candidates for sale.
Left-back Brandon Williams, who had limited playing time last season, and academy graduate Anthony Elanga are also available for offers.
Furthermore, Hannibal Mejbri, another youth graduate, can be acquired for a similar price following his loan spell at Birmingham.
Captain Harry Maguire, midfielder Donny van de Beek, and forward Anthony Martial are all open to offers despite their substantial transfer fees and wages.
United are particularly interested in signing a new midfielder and are willing to consider offers of £20million for Fred.
In total, Manchester United intend to raise over £100million in transfer fees, while reducing wage expenditure, to facilitate a squad restructuring.
The club aim to secure a new starting goalkeeper, two strikers, a midfielder, and a defender as part of their plans under Ten Hag.
