Erik ten Hag: Manchester United must wait and see over Lisandro Martinez injury
Erik ten Hag has indicated that Manchester United will need to exercise patience as they await the full assessment of Lisandro Martinez's injury.
The Argentine international started the match alongside Victor Lindelof in the heart of United's defence against Arsenal on Sunday.
However, he was forced to exit the game in the 67th minute due to a suspected foot issue. Lindelof was also substituted later in the match, leaving Harry Maguire to partner with Jonny Evans.
Unfortunately for United, late goals from Declan Rice and Gabriel Jesus secured a 3-1 victory for Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
Raphael Varane is currently in the process of recovering from an injury sustained in the 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest.
The team's concerns about the depth of their defensive lineup were underscored during the defeat at Arsenal.
"Victor was ill, so he had to come off. Licha had a problem on his foot, but I am not sure if it's an injury," said Ten Hag.
"We have to wait, to see, to make the diagnosis."
Notably, Martinez was observed leaving the Emirates Stadium without the need for a protective boot or crutches. He is expected to join up with the Argentina national squad for the upcoming international break, accompanying Alejandro Garnacho.
Manchester United have been grappling with an extensive injury list, with both left-backs, Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, side-lined.
This situation prompted the loan acquisition of Sergio Reguilon from Tottenham, although the Spaniard remained on the bench during Sunday's match, with Diogo Dalot stepping in.
Mason Mount, a summer signing, has been absent from action since the 2-0 defeat to Tottenham in mid-August. Furthermore, promising young talents such as Amad Diallo and Kobbie Mainoo are also currently unavailable for selection.
