Championship betting tips: Who will win the Golden Boot?

Luton Town forward Carlton Morris

Planet Sport has identified the contenders for the Championship Golden Boot award in 2024/25 including our betting tips.

Goals win games and the players on this list certainly know how to score goals. We’ve picked out 10 candidates to win the Golden Boot including our tip for the Championship’s top goalscorer.

Sammie Szmodics - Blackburn Rovers

What better place to start than with the 2023/24 Golden Boot winner? Blackburn Rovers are fortunate to still be a Championship club, which they are thanks to Szmodics’ goals. It remains to be seen if he can produce again, or if he’ll still be in Lancashire come September.

Crysencio Summerville - Leeds United

If Leeds are fortunate enough to keep the Dutchman for another year, then you can guarantee he’ll threaten the 20-goal mark again. The winger registered 20 last time, while chipping in with nine assists, and is capable of going one better.

Carlton Morris - Luton Town

There’s no guarantee that Luton will be able to mount an automatic promotion push, but they have enough quality to finish top seven. Morris scored 20 during his last Championship campaign and will come back a better player with Premier League experience.

Haji Wright - Coventry City

The American produced 16 goals and seven assists last season and he can improve on that tally. The Championship looks more open this year and City are expected to go well. If Wright can put himself in the right places, his 21% conversation rate will serve him well.

Josh Sargent - Norwich City

From one American to another, Sargent produced the best conversion rate of any striker with 15 or more goals last term. Despite taking just 50 shots and missing matches due to injury, he produced a respectable tally of 16 goals.

Emmanuel Latte Lath - Middlesbrough

The Ivorian took to the Championship like a duck to water last season. He only needed 30 matches to register 16, which was on pace to produce a 24-goal season. Boro are another team that can benefit from a more open division and he’ll be at the forefront of their push.

Lyle Foster - Burnley

This season can be a fresh start for Lyle Foster, who showed glimpses of Premier League quality during a disrupted season. With all things considered, eight goal involvements in 24 matches was a good return. The Clarets could compete for the title and he’ll play a role.

Brandon Thomas-Asante - West Brom

The West Brom forward scored 11 in 41 last season but continues to develop. He’s yet to reach peak age and has improved in each of his last three seasons. He took enough shots to compete with the league’s top scorers last season and can do better.

Kieffer Moore - Sheffield United

It was only three years ago that the big man was banging in 20 goals for Cardiff City in the Championship. He found the net seven times in 18 appearances for Ipswich last season, despite playing second fiddle for most of his short loan spell.

Colby Bishop - Portsmouth

Ipswich and Plymouth produced two 10-goal strikers each last term, so there’s no reason Colby Bishop can’t take to the level if Portsmouth settle in early. We predict John Mousinho’s team will be tough to beat at Fratton Park, where Bishop scored 13 of his 21 goals.
