Champions League draw: Manchester City and Chelsea on collision course if they pass Spanish test

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola after the UEFA Champions League round of sixteen second leg match at the Etihad Stadium, Manchester.

Manchester City and Chelsea could meet in the Champions League semi-final should they prevail in their quarter-final ties against Atletico and Real Madrid.

The two English clubs competed in last year's final, with Chelsea coming out on top following a 1-0 win in Porto.

This year, the two clubs could meet in the last-four after being drawn in the same bracket.

However, before Pep Guardiola and Thomas Tuchel can think about a possible all-English blockbuster clash, they must first eliminate their Spanish opponents.

Manchester City will take on Atletico Madrid for the first time in a competitive European tie.
Atletico have already beaten one Manchester outfit after knocking out United in the previous round.
The Spanish champions will now return to the city as they target their first semi-final appearance since 2016/17. Interestingly, on that occasion they also beat English opposition to make it into the semis - it was of course, Leicester City.

Chelsea, on the other hand, will face Real Madrid in a repeat of last year's Champions League semi-final.

The Blues will have to play the second leg away at Santiago Bernabeu - the same ground which saw a spectacular capitulation from PSG in the previous round of the competition.

What's more, Chelsea won't have much of a home advantage either as fans are currently unable to buy tickets for the fixture.

Jurgen Klopp could meet old rivals Bayern

Liverpool will take on Benfica in their quarter-final tie - a fixture which we last saw during the 2010 Europa League campaign.

Interestingly, the Portuguese outfit have a stellar record against the Reds, winning four of their last five head-to-head encounters.
Nevertheless, with Liverpool a completely different beast since those previous meetings, it's the Reds who will be overwhelming favourites.

Jurgen Klopp - who is the former manager of Borussia Dortmund -  could be on a collision course with rivals Bayern Munich as the German champions were drawn in the same semi-final bracket.

The Bavarian outfit will take on Villarreal in the quarter-final.
