Anthony Jung has extended his contract at Werder Bremen
Werder Bremen's head of scouting and professional football, Clemens Fritz, announced on Thursday that defender Anthony Jung has extended his contract with the club.
"Tony has been a key player for us from the start. He has fulfilled the expectations put on him both on and off the pitch and we are happy that he is staying with us.
"He is a regular player and has cemented his place on the left-hand side. He has become an important part of our team," Fritz told the club's official website, but did not release the contract details.
Jung, who joined Werder in the summer of 2021 from Brondby IF in Copenhagen, expressed his excitement about his future with the club. "It has been an exciting and successful time in Bremen since my move from Denmark. We have a good team, everything is right.
"My family and I also feel at home in the city, so I'm pleased to continue being a part of Werder Bremen," said the 31-year-old.
With 21 Bundesliga matches and two DFB-Pokal appearances under his belt, Jung has become an integral part of Werder's defence.
His contract extension ensures that the club will continue to benefit from his skills and experience in the upcoming season.
"We are delighted to have secured Anthony Jung's services for the foreseeable future. He has proved to be a valuable member of our team and we look forward to seeing him continue to thrive in the coming years," Fritz added.
