Bayern Munich's future goalkeeping investment: Daniel Peretz joins the club

Maccabi Tel Aviv goalkeeper Daniel Peretz's transfer to Bayern Munich isn't just a short-term solution during Manuel Neuer's injury recovery, but rather a strategic investment for the club's future, as asserted by CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen on Monday.

Bayern secured the services of Peretz on a five-year deal, marking a historic milestone as the 23-year-old becomes the first Israeli player to don Bayern's jersey.

The 37-year-old Neuer remains sidelined due to a skiing accident in December, though he has commenced individual training, his return to action remains weeks away. In the interim, Bayern have relied on 35-year-old Sven Ulreich in the first two league matches, both resulting in victories.

Dreesen, speaking at a press conference, underlined the long-term vision behind Peretz's signing, stating, "Signing Peretz is an investment for the future. He is only 23 years old. The age gap between him and Manuel is significant, providing him with ample learning opportunities from both Manuel and Sven. Daniel allows us to plan for the future, hence the five-year contract. Breaking into Bayern demands passion and energy; we are confident Daniel possesses these qualities, which is why we signed him."

Peretz's arrival also carries historical significance, as he becomes the first Israeli player to join the German record champions. Dreesen emphasized, "It's the first time an Israeli player is part of our squad, and considering the club's Jewish heritage, it holds a special place."
