Bayer Leverkusen eye Santiago Gimenez as transfer deadline approaches
Bayer Leverkusen, the reigning German champions, have reportedly shown keen interest in bolstering their attack before the transfer window closes.
Reports from Mexican journalists Daniel Reyes Villasenor of Fox Sports Mexico and Carlos Reynoso reveal that Leverkusen are exploring the possibility of signing Mexican international Santiago Gimenez.
Leverkusen have reportedly reached out to Feyenoord, Gimenez‘s current club, to discuss a potential transfer.
Gimenez, who has netted 53 goals in 90 appearances for Feyenoord, was previously linked with Nottingham Forest.
However, he turned down the Premier League side's offer, which met Feyenoord's €35 million valuation.
According to Villasenor, Gimenez is intrigued by the prospect of joining Leverkusen.
Nevertheless, the German side will need to offload another player to facilitate the move.
The 23-year-old forward's potential switch to Leverkusen could significantly impact their attacking options as they aim to build on their recent successes.
As the transfer deadline looms, Leverkusen‘s pursuit of Gimenez highlights their ambition to strengthen their squad for the challenges ahead.
