Barcelona pursuing Manchester City's Bernardo Silva for midfield reinforcement - report
Barcelona have struggled to create significant goal-scoring opportunities, particularly after Pedri's injury, and are reportedly scouring the market for a creative midfielder to add to their squad.
According to reports from SPORT, the Catalan Giants have their sights set on Manchester City's Bernardo Silva and are working to bring the 28-year-old to the Spotify Camp Nou in 2023.
It's no surprise that Barcelona are interested in Silva, as they pursued him last summer, but a move fell through due to the need to get a substantial bid for Frenkie De Jong. Silva wants to play for Barcelona, and with him already requesting to leave Manchester City, a move to the Catalan Giants seems plausible.
The only challenge Barcelona now must deal with is raising the funds to sign the Portuguese star, following the crazy spending spree last summer.
Nevertheless, with an urgent need to bolster the midfield and alleviate pressure on Pedri, who has been doing all the creative work alone, Barcelona may have to go all out for Silva.
Silva isn't the only midfielder on Barcelona's radar, as his teammate and German international, Ilkay Gundogan, is also being considered for a free move to Spain this summer. However, if Manchester City is willing to let Silva go, Barcelona will have to act quickly to secure his services.
In other news, Barcelona's star striker Robert Lewandowski has suffered a hamstring injury and will be side-lined for several weeks.
