Barcelona announce four high-profile departures
Marcos Alonso, Joao Cancelo, Joao Felix and Sergino Dest will all be leaving Barcelona before the start of the new season.
On Saturday, it was confirmed that right-back Dest has had his loan move to PSV Eindhoven made permanent.
Then on Sunday, Barcelona announced that defenders Alonso and Cancelo, alongside attacker Felix, would also be leaving the club.
Dest joined from Ajax in 2020 and made a total of 72 appearances, 56 as a starter in which time he scored three goals and provided four assists. Left-back Alonso leaves after two seasons with Barcelona. He arrived from Chelsea in 2022 and played 45 games, scoring three goals.
Cancelo and Felix, who were on loan, have returned to their parent clubs - Atletico Madrid and Manchester City. Felix played 44 times in all competitions for the Blaugrana. He scored 10 goals and provided six assists, while Cancelo made 42 appearances, netting four times and contributing five assists.
"Marcos Alonso, Joao Felix and Joao Cancelo are not to continue with FC Barcelona," read a statement from the club.
"The Spanish defender's contract ends on June 30, as do the loan contracts for the two Portuguese players, who will return to their respective clubs.
"FC Barcelona would like to place on record their appreciation for their commitment and dedication, and wishes them all the best and every success in the future.
"FC Barcelona publicly expresses its gratitude for their commitment and dedication and wishes them the best of luck and success in the future," the Catalans said about the 'Joaos', though correspondence related to them has now been deleted."
In a separate statement made on Saturday, the club announced that Dest would be leaving.
"Barcelona and PSV Eindhoven have reached an agreement for the transfer of the player Sergiño Dest. FC Barcelona retains a percentage of any future sale," it read.
