Atletico Madrid grind out victory against Granada, VAR drama adds controversy

Post-match, Atletico coach Diego Simeone acknowledged the pressure on referees and defended the role of VAR, stating, "I still believe that VAR helps, although on some occasions that has not been proven. There is a lot of pressure; you have to show solidarity with the referees because it is not an easy moment for them."

The hard-fought victory propelled Atletico back into the top four of La Liga, levelling them with Athletic Club. Meanwhile, Granada finds themselves in 19th place, five points adrift from safety, reflecting the uphill battle they face in the league.
