Aston Villa are on a four-match winless run in the Premier League at the moment and overturning that against the league leaders is a tough ask.

Nevertheless, Unai Emery’s men are a dangerous force when at their best and Liverpool certainly bring the best out of their opponents.

Going back to last season, this exact fixture finished 3-3. You may be surprised to learn that Liverpool haven’t failed to win back-to-back away league games against the Villans since December 2004.

Unai Emery’s men have lost six of their last seven Premier League games against clubs which started the day top of the table. 

What’s more, Liverpool are the only remaining side in the competition who are yet to lose away from home, claiming nine wins and four draws from 13 such matches.

The stats are pointing to Arne Slot’s machine and we’re going with the numbers on this occasion. Liverpool are a tasty 5/6 to win – such tasty odds on the Reds are a rarity.

 

Mo Salah to score anytime

We include this bet in near enough every Liverpool preview that we write… and most of the time, it lands.

Salah has scored in his last six straight appearances for the Reds, making a total number of nine goal contributions.

His goal against Wolves last time out earned Liverpool the all-important three points. He may need to play a similar role against Villa who are expected to provide a tough test.

The previous seven Premier League meetings between Aston Villa and Liverpool at Villa Park have produced 33 goals. That is an average of 4.7 per match. 

A closer look at those fixtures will reveal that Liverpool have scored at least twice in all seven of these games.
