Seven soccer siblings that shared the pitch including the Hazards, Nevilles and Toures
There wasn’t much team bonding required for these seven brotherly duos who all shared a passion for soccer - and a pitch.
If you ever needed proof that soccer runs in the family, this is it. As a result, fans have occasionally been treated to players who share more than just an ordinary bond as team-mates.
Nothing beats a bit of fierce sibling competition, and we can only imagine how much the rivalry is amplified when you're trying to avoid being the less talented brother in front of an audience of millions.
Gary and Phil Neville
Perhaps the most well-known brothers in soccer are the Nevilles, who grew up together playing for Manchester United.
Whether it was just their preferred position or a genius tactic to keep them away from each other, Gary and Phil plied their trades as opposite full-backs, with Gary best known for cementing his place on United's right flank.
The pair went on to make a combined 663 appearances for the Red Devils during their time in Manchester and won six Premier League titles alongside each other.
However, while both go down as club legends, it was Gary that went on to enjoy the better career overall - sorry Phil - after nailing down his role as a starter in Sir Alex Ferguson's side, and enjoying a 19-year career at Old Trafford.
In comparison, Phil was often used to plug holes in the side and never enjoyed a consistent run of games in the iconic red jersey. He eventually left to join Everton in 2005 and retired eight years later.
Thiago and Rafinha Alcantara
Both Thiago and Rafinha grew up together training in Barcelona's iconic La Masia academy in their youths, and were both evidently talented enough as they broke through to the first team.
Thiago left for Bayern Munich in 2013 and quickly became recognised as one of the world's best central midfielders. In 2020, the 30-year-old made the switch to Premier League side Liverpool.
Rafinha instead opted to go out on loan to gather experience and enjoyed spells at Celta Vigo and Inter Milan before eventually making a permanent move to Paris Saint-Germain in 2020.
Interestingly, the two brothers opted to represent two different national sides, with Thiago choosing Spain while Rafinha pledged himself to Brazil.
Fabio and Rafael
Kolo and Yaya Toure
From the red half of Manchester to the blue, the Toure brothers not only played for some of the best teams worldwide but are also central to one of the greatest chants.
With shouts of "Kolo" and "Yaya" still echoing around the Etihad Stadium to this day, it's fair to say that the City faithful hold the duo in high regard after their time at the club.
Kolo was the first to move to Manchester, joining the Sky Blues in 2009 after a seven-year stint in north London with Arsenal.
The pair would only spend three years together in Manchester, but crucially formed part of the side that won Manchester City their first-ever Premier League title in 2011/12.
The duo faced one another in March 2015 after Kolo made an appearance from the bench for Liverpool in a league clash against Yaya's Manchester City.
However, Phillipe Coutinho's winning goal in the 75th minute meant that it was Kolo who had the bragging rights from their first game against each other - we bet the family dinners were fun after that.
Thorgan, Eden and Kylian Hazard
It's one hell of a five-a-side team, but big brother Eden would certainly wear the captain's armband. The 30-year-old forged a wonderful career during his time at Chelsea and completed a staggering £100million move to Real Madrid back in 2019.
However, since joining the Galacticos, Eden's career has somewhat stalled, and it's little brother Thorgan who has stolen his limelight after standing out for Borussia Dortmund in recent years.
But the 28-year-old has since found his feet at Dortmund and has also found his way into the Belgium side, where he plays alongside brother Eden, even sometimes taking his starting spot.
Frank and Ronald De Boer
The De Boer brothers were inseparable, having been team-mates at Ajax, Barcelona, Rangers, Al-Rayyan, Al-Shamal and the Netherlands national team.
They came as a packaged deal, and it was quite the bargain. The twins both started their career at Ajax, with Frank as a central defender and brother Ronald as a tricky attacking midfielder.
After seeing out their careers in Qatar, Frank has since gone into management but missed a trick by leaving brother Ronald out of becoming an iconic double act on the sidelines.
Jacob and Josh Murphy
Both Murphy twins showed their close relationship on the pitch when playing alongside each other for Norwich City.
They started at Norwich's academy together aged seven and rose through the ranks together before being handed their debuts in 2013.
During their spell at Norwich, both brothers went out on loan to gain experience, but Jacob was the first to make a permanent move in 2017, joining Newcastle United where he continues to play now.
