Mo Salah made history with his goal against Norwich at the weekend

Liverpool's Egyptian talisman has become the first Premier League player to score on five consecutive opening day weekends. Planet Sport have broken down each goal involved in the historic feat.

After an unconvincing defence of their title in a COVID-stricken season, Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool will be determined to reaffirm themselves as the champions of England, and it may well be a familiar face that helps them get there.

Since arriving at Anfield from Roma, Mohamed Salah has set the Premier League alight with his scintillating speed, audacious dribbling and fantastic footwork, terrorising opposition defences alongside Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota.

Aside from his consistently immense performances, it is the winger's prolificness in front of goal that has seen him emerge as one of the best players in world soccer.

With 97 goals, 34 assists and two golden boots to his name in 158 apperances, the Egyptian's statistics speak for themselves.

A closer look at Salah's goal return shows the winger's extraordinary trait of starting the season with a goal.

His superb strike against Norwich on Sunday cemented him as the first Premier League player in history to score in five consecutive opening day fixtures for the Merseyside outfit.

Watford 3-3 Liverpool (August 12, 2017)

Fresh from a successful stint at Roma, Salah scored the first of many Liverpool goals that would soon earn him the 'Egyptian King' moniker.

Marking his Premier League return in style, the forward thrived in a six goal thriller at Vicarage Road - Jurgen Klopp's 100th game as Reds boss.

An unfavourable first half left lots to be desired amongst the travelling Liverpudlian contingent as goals from Stefano Okaka and Abdoulaye Doucoure saw the Hornets buzzing with a 2-1 lead.

Showing the trademark fight they've become accustomed to in the Klopp regime, the Reds overturned the deficit to take the lead in the second half, with Salah grabbing the third.

Finishing off a lethal Liverpool attack, the Egyptian talisman coolly tucked away an astutely lobbed pass from Firmino as euphoria erupted from the away end.

The jubilation would soon be cut short as a controversial injury time goal from Miguel Britos rescued a point for Watford, rounding off a chaotic comeback to English football for the winger.

Liverpool 4-0 West Ham (August 12, 2018)

Playing his part in Liverpool's biggest opening day win since 1932, Salah opened Liverpool's scoring as they vanquished West Ham at Anfield.

Utilising their attacking threat out wide, a well worked move from the home side enabled the Egyptian to get off the mark in style.

A well placed pass from Naby Keita allowed Andy Robertson to drill a fizzing cross from the left-hand side, finding Salah at the back post who slotted past a helpless Fabianski.

Mane and Daniel Sturridge were also on hand to score for the Reds, with the Senegalese winger bagging a brace.

Salah would go on to score 22 goals that season, once again capturing the coveted Premier League golden boot.

Liverpool 4-1 Norwich (August 9, 2019)

Marking their title winning season in comfortable fashion, Liverpool breezed past newly-promoted Norwich with Salah being at the forefront of two of his team's goals.

An unfortunate own goal from Canaries captain Grant Hanley gave the Reds an early advantage. Moments later, the Egyptian king was soon on hand to double the lead.

Once again connecting with Firmino, an intelligent pass from the Brazilian enabled Salah to place a calculated left-footed strike past Tim Krul, much to the delight of the home crowd.

Building on his heroics, he was instrumental in his side's third - directing a pinpoint corner into the path of Virgil Van Dijk who powered a thunderous header home.

Divock Origi added a fourth on the stroke of half-time, with Teemu Pukki's second half goal being rendered a mere consolation.

Liverpool 4-3 Leeds (September 12, 2020)

Bagging a heroic hat-trick, Salah spoiled Leeds' return to the top-flight with a man-of-the-match performance in a seven-goal Anfield thriller.

It took all of four minutes for the talismanic Egyptian to find the net, staying calm and composed from the penalty spot to open his account for the season.

His second was the pick of the bunch.

After Leeds failed to deal with an inswinging Liverpool free-kick, the ball fell to Salah inside the eighteen-yard box who then proceeded to unleash a venomous volley.

Reciprocating his early heroics, Salah grabbed his third late on through another well-placed spot kick to seal his hat-trick and a dramatic win for the home side.

His tremendous trio made him the first Liverpool player to score a hat-trick on the first day of a league season since John Aldridge against Charlton in 1988-89.

Norwich 0-3 Liverpool (August 14, 2021)

Kickstarting their 2021/22 campaign in style, Liverpool prevailed in yet another encounter with the Championship champions. The Reds cruised past the Canaries at Carrow Road with Salah finding the net once again.

Liverpool were already in control with a 2-0 lead when a spectacular finish from Salah put the icing on the cake. The goal crowned him as the first player to score in five consecutive opening day fixtures in the top-flight.

After Norwich were only able to half-clear a corner, the ball fell to the forward who steadied himself before curling a glorious strike past Tim Krul.

As well as his goalscoring heroics, he was instrumental in Liverpool's opening two goals, providing an assist for both Jota and Firmino respectively.

Salah will be hoping to emulate his previous heroics as Liverpool fight to regain their title this season.
