A guide to all US World Cup venues
During the summer of 2026, the US will host the biggest and largest FIFA World Cup of all time.
The tournament is expanding to 48 teams and 104 total matches. That’s 104 opportunities for fans to place bets on World Cup games during the summer of 2026.
For anyone unfamiliar with sports betting, USA Legal Betting has all of the basics covered with regard to where sports betting is legal, where to do it, and how to get started.
While Canada and Mexico will help with the hosting duties, a vast majority of the tournament will take place in the U.S.
After the bidding process, 11 American stadiums were granted hosting rights.
Let’s take a closer look at American venues that will be hosting matches during the 2026 World Cup.
Arrowhead Stadium
Arrowhead Stadium doesn’t have a long history with soccer, hosting just one competitive match. However, Kansas City has earned the reputation of a great soccer city, which is why Arrowhead was selected.
Also, while the NFL’s Chiefs are playing, Arrowhead is one of the loudest stadiums in the country, so that could translate to the World Cup.
AT&T Stadium
As one of the largest and most impressive stadiums in the country, it’s a given that AT&T Stadium will be a site for the 2026 World Cup. The venue has hosted plenty of soccer matches in the past, including some memorable Gold Cup games.
Gillette Stadium
Since it opened in 2002, Gillette Stadium has been an important stadium for American soccer. It hosts the New England Revolution of MLS and dozens of international matches.
Gillette Stadium was used during the 2003 Women’s World Cup and also the Copa America Centenario Tournament in 2016.
Hard Rock Stadium
Miami is one of the more underrated soccer cities in the US, making Hard Rock Stadium an obvious venue for the World Cup.
The stadium has hosted over a dozen soccer matches that drew over 50,000 people, including three that had over 70,000 in attendance.
Therefore, Hard Rock Stadium should have no problem packing in fans for the World Cup.
Levi’s stadium
Slowly but surely, Levi’s Stadium has become a popular soccer venue.
The San Jose Earthquakes play one game every year at the home of the 49ers while Levi’s Stadium also hosted four Copa America Centenario games in 2016.
Lincoln Financial Field
Philadelphia is the quintessential American city, making Lincoln Financial Field an obvious venue for the World Cup.
The US National Team frequently plays matches here.
Lincoln Financial Field also hosted four games during the 2003 Women’s World Cup and the Gold Cup Final in 2015.
Lumen Field
While technically an NFL stadium, Lumen Field was built with soccer in mind. It’s been one of the best venues in MLS since the Seattle Sounders started playing there in 2009.
Lumen Field is also one of the loudest stadiums in the country and should have a lively atmosphere during the 2026 World Cup.
Mercedes-Benz Stadium
Mercedes-Benz Stadium is no stranger to hosting big events. It’s also a top-notch soccer venue that hosts Atlanta United of MLS and has hosted international matches.
Opening in 2017, Mercedes-Benz Stadium will be one of the newest stadiums used during the World Cup.
MetLife Stadium
The predecessor to MetLife Stadium, Giants Stadium, played a huge role during the 1994 and 1999 World Cups in the US, and MetLife figures to do the same in 2026.
Since 2010, it has hosted more than a dozen soccer games with many drawing upwards of 80,000 fans, if not more.
As a result, look for some important knockout-stage matches to be played here.
NRG Stadium
While not officially a soccer stadium, NRG Stadium has had a hand in hosting most of the major soccer competitions hosted in the U.S. over the past decade.
That includes multiple Gold Cups and the Copa America Centenario tournament in 2019 when it was the site of a semifinal match.
Therefore, it was an easy decision to make NRG Stadium a host site for the 2026 World Cup.
SoFi Stadium
Despite only opening in 2020, SoFi Stadium has quickly become the crown jewel of American sports venues because of its unique architecture and great amenities.
While it hasn’t hosted many soccer games in its brief history, SoFi Stadium has already hosted a Super Bowl and is built for big occasions.
It’s even possible that the final of the 2026 World Cup will be played at SoFi Stadium.
