Super League tips: Warrington Wolves can use solid home form to edge Leeds Rhinos in close contest

Daryl Powell Warrington Wolves coach

Two out-of-sorts teams go head-to-head in the Super League on Thursday night as Warrington Wolves welcome Leeds Rhinos to the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

If there was an award for inconsistency, Warrington and Leeds would be in the running for the grand prize if their recent form is anything to go by.

Both teams meet this Thursday night as they look to turn their fortunes around.

Verdict

Warrington Wolves are in the midst of a mid-season slump as they prepare for their latest Super League outing.
Daryl Powell's men have lost four of their last five matches across all competitions - including a surprise 23-14 defeat away at Castleford Tigers last week.

The one saving grace for Wire is the fact their home form has remained solid in recent weeks.

Since their first home defeat against Wigan back in April, Warrington have won three straight matches at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.
Their last match on home turf saw the Wolves edge Huddersfield 30-26.
Speaking of Huddersfield, Leeds Rhinos tore the Giants to shreds when the two sides clashed last week.
Rohan Smith watched on with delight as his men put on a 54-0 clinic, though Huddersfield's downfall was undoubtedly the main reason for the seismic scoreline.
That result certainly came at the right time as it put an end to a four-match losing run for the Rhinos.
In fact, Leeds have lost six of their last eight matches across all competitions, and currently find themselves eighth in the Super League table.
Backing Leeds away from home would certainly require a lot of faith considering Smith's men have won just two of their last seven matches on the road.
With that in mind, our recommendation is to back the hosts to claim a narrow victory.
