Premier League Darts tips and predictions as Gerwyn Price looks to shine on Night 7 homecoming

Gerwyn Price

The Premier League Darts roadshow heads to Cardiff this Thursday night for the seventh night of the season.

As the only Welshman in the competition, Gerwyn Price will be looking to impress the home crowd at the Utilita Arena.

The city of Cardiff is only 20 miles away from the Iceman’s birthplace of Markham – a place famous for being the first mining village to have a bath in every property.

Putting silly facts to one side, the 40-year-old is building serious momentum in the Premier League after winning Night 6 in Nottingham.

The Welshman is setting his sights on back-to-back weekly titles but that may prove a stiff task considering the Cardiff draw.

Here, we take a closer look at Night 7 and pick out some of the best bets along the way.

Premier League Darts - Night 7 fixtures

Chris Dobey v Stephen Bunting

Luke Humphries v Mihael van Gerwen

Luke Littler v Nathan Aspinall

Gerwyn Price v Rob Cross

Price begins his quest for a third Night win with a quarter-final clash against Rob Cross. This will be the first time these two have met in the Premier League this season, and their first head-to-head since January.

Speaking of past meetings, there’s very little separating both men. In eight previous encounters, both have four wins each, with Cross picking up a 7-3 win last time out at the Dutch Masters.

Price will certainly fancy himself on home territory. The Iceman reached the final last year in Cardiff and won the entire night a year earlier.

Should the Welshman progress past Cross, he faces a possible encounter with current world champion and league leader Luke Littler.

Price beat Littler in the final of Night 6 in Nottingham which proved the teenager is not as indomitable as first thought – especially over the short format.

With that in mind, we’re backing Price to raise the roof in Cardiff with a homecoming Premier League night victory.

Elsewhere, there is a very tasty quarter-final clash between two heavyweights of the darting world – Luke Humphries and Michael van Gerwen.

Cool Hand Luke was dumped out at the first hurdle last week by Littler, while MVG bagged a spot in the semi-final before being demolished 6-1 by Price.

The Dutchman is struggling at the moment, losing four of his last six matches and going out in the first round of the latest Players Championship event.

We’re backing Humphries – who beat MVG in their last Premier League meetings – to get the job done and progress to the semi-final.

Another game worth keeping an eye on concerns Chris Dobey and bottom-of-the-table Stephen Bunting.

There was a lot of excitement around The Bullet’s involvement in the Premier League this season, but his only real contribution is a killer entrance.

Bunting will be looking to change that when he takes on an out-of-form Dobey who is certainly for the taking in Cardiff.
