Davis will be looking to underline his position as the biggest name in American boxing as he puts his undefeated record and the WBA lightweight title on the line.
Tank boasts a perfect 30-0 professional record with 28 knockouts to his name. Five of his last six wins came against unbeaten fighters – including Frank Martin last time out.
Lamont Roach is next on the list to try and dethrone Davis. The fellow American has an impressive 25-1-1 record and is the WBA super-featherweight champion but has only boxed three times in over three years.

“Roach is a terrific fighter. He might be a little over his head with Gervonta Davis.
“Gervonta Davis is a beast. He really is. He’s a tremendous fighter. He’s a dedicated fighter when he comes to training and fighting and making sure that he’s in optimal condition when he steps inside that squared circle.
“It’s gonna be a tough night for Roach but you can never count him out. Watching him fight up close and personal, he’s sneaky good. It means he can catch you at any time. He can land combinations, sometimes at will without you knowing it. He’s that sneaky.
“It’s going to be very interesting. But obviously Gervonta Davis has the experience, he has the knowledge, he has the mean streak in him that will take you out with any punch.”

“I do think it’ll be a good fight for as long as it lasts. I’d love Lamont to go out and beat him, but I just don’t think it’s going to happen.
“It’s a hard fight for ‘Tank’; it is. I think that Lamont will be ahead on points, but then ‘Tank’ catches up to him to knock him out.
“What Davis does, what he’s incredible at, is that he makes you feel comfortable throughout the rounds, you know. He lets you away with things over and over and over and then snap! He pulls the trigger. He has that devastating power, that God-given power that you just can’t teach.”

“I think Roach is too small. That’s my issue. I’m now questioning his skill set or anything like that.
“It’s similar to Frank Martin. This guy came in there, he had 18 fights. I remember watching that pre-fight press conference when he way annoying Gervonta Davis so much. I knew Gervonta was going to come for him and sure enough, that’s what he did, walked right towards him right from round one.”

“I don’t think Roach has the fire power to hold off Tank. I think he’s got great skills but I don’t think he’s got the fire power to get Tank’s respect and I think you’ve got to have that. If you don’t, then you really have no chance.”

“Roach has a quality background and is a highly competent boxer. But when I asked the most experienced boxing writer I know what chance he gave to Roach in this fight, the answer was, ‘the same chance I give to a caterpillar crawling in the way of a steamroller’.
“Davis by middle-round rescue TKO. Onward to potential match-ups with [Vasiliy] Lomachenko, Shakur Stevenson, and/or Keyshawn Davis, any of whom would have a better chance than Roach.”

“I mean, like, he’s [Tank is] a bad man. He can fight. He’s tough. I know we had our back and forth or whatever, but at the end of the day, if we talk about just boxing, hey, absolutely.
“So I don’t know why everybody’s kind of sleeping on Lamont, but he has a decorated amateur career too. He’s a very sturdy kid. He’s very skilled. Tank is Tank. And when I say Tank is Tank, I mean like he’s a bad man. He can fight. He’s tough,”
Seb Sternik (Planet Sport)
“Nobody is giving Roach a hope in hell and I’m afraid we agree. While the challenger has great skill, Davis is operating on another level and has superior power to go along with his world-class abilities.
“While sharing the ring with Tank will do a world of good for his own abilities, we expect Roach to become Davis’s latest TKO victim.”

Gervonta Davies v Lamont Roach undercard
Davis and Roach isn’t the only title fight on the card as Jose Valenzuela defend his WBA super-lightweight championship for the first time against Gary Antuanne Russell.
Valenzuela won the belt from Isaac Cruz on the undercard of Terence Crawford’s clash with Israil Madrimov.
The 25-year-old put on an exhibition of counterpunching before picking up the split decision victory in his first world title fight.
Russell, who is a former Olympian, is likely to give the champion a solid challenge. The 28-year-old was on a 17-fight knockout streak before losing a split decision to Alberto Puello last June.
Speaking of Puello, the Dominican will put his WBC title on the line against mandatory challenger Sandor Martin on the same card.
The 30-year-old boasts an unbeaten 23-0 record while Martin has far more experience with 45 professional bouts under his belt – 42 of those victories.
