2025 World Open: Predictions, tips and best bets as Mark Selby, Judd Trump and Kyren Wilson head to China

Some of the biggest names in snooker are heading to Yushan, China as they battle it out for the £175,000 prize at the annual World Open.
Judd Trump arrives as the defending champion after getting the better of Ding Junhui in last year’s event.
The likes of Mark Selby, Kyren Wilson and Shaun Murphy are his top challengers ahead of what promises to be an exciting event.
Here, we take a closer look at the 2025 edition of the World Open and pick out some of the best bets along the way.

Judd Trump decided to give the Welsh Open a miss in order to focus on other events. With the 35-year-old set to compete in Yushan, this was evidently one of those events.
Trump has only competed in one of the previous four rankings events, while his last ranking win was December’s UK Championship.
However, it is worth noting that the Ace In The Pack reached two recent semi-finals at the Masters and the Championship League Invitational. Looking at those runs, Trump has to be regarded as a strong title contender in China.
Another man to watch has to be Mark Selby. The Jester From Leicester arrives in Yushan having won back-to-back events at the Championship League and the Welsh Open.
The 41-year-old is enjoying a serious wave of momentum and that cannot be discounted at the World Open.
Kyren Wilson will fancy his chances as the Englishman looks to turn his strong recent form into silverware.
The Warrior reached the finals of the Masters and Championship League, while also winning the German Masters back in February.
Looking further down the draw, Shaun Murphy will attract a lot of betting attention having been priced at 11/1.
The Masters champion won this event back in 2014 when he defeated Mark Selby 10-6 in the final.
Our recommendation is to back Selby in the outright market. The four-time world champion has hit sensational form and at around the 5/1 mark, he offers good value.
If you’re looking to get more out of your buck, Murphy is the man to back. His current odds are more than double of Selby’s and considering he won the recent Masters, the Magician can’t be underestimated.
