Pierre Gasly excited for the future after signing a multi-year extension with Alpine

Pierre Gasly will remain an Alpine racing driver for the foreseeable future after penning what has been described as a "long-term" deal with the French Formula 1 team.

The Frenchman, 28, joined from the then-Alpha Tauri team in 2023 and has raced in 32 Grands Prix for Alpine — claiming third place in last season's Belgian Sprint and the main Dutch Grand Prix.

Alpine have endured a difficult season so far and have just eight points to their name, with Gasly's team-mate and former karting rival Esteban Ocon already confirmed to be leaving the team at the end of the season.

But Gasly is confident in the progress of Alpine and believes he is in the right place for his future.

"I've been officially here for over 18 months and it has always been the plan to build a long-term project with the team," Gasly said.

"While on-track it's been a challenging season so far, I remain faithful to the project and I am not going anywhere.

"I am happy with the changes made, the hard work, and the direction the team is taking.

"There is a lot of potential in this team's personnel and resources. I'm excited for what is to come in the future and right now I'm focusing on the everyday details that we are putting in to improve our performances."

Gasly and Ocon have endured a difficult relationship since being paired together in 2023.

Alpine team principal Bruno Famin says Gasly's team-mate for next season remains undecided, with Carlos Sainz, the grid's most in-demand driver, a possibility alongside reserve driver Jack Doohan or young prospect Victor Martins.

"We will take our time in deciding Pierre's team-mate and we are excited with the options we have on the table," Famin said.

"We have high ambitions this current season and we will work tirelessly to achieve those things."
