Wolverhampton racing tip (2030): Pysanka ready to bounce back under Billy Loughnane

The very last race of the night at Wolverhampton could well be one worth waiting for, with plenty of capable performers lining up for a competitive 12-furlong contest.

If we believe everything the bookies tell us, then we should be in for a two-horse race between Cornish Storm and Looklikewemadeit, with the former in particular looking a worthy favourite on the strength of his decisive victory in a 14-runner handicap over the same distance at Kempton last time out in September.

He looks sure to be there or thereabouts again here, although his seven-pound rise levels the playing field a little and gives hope to the likes of Virtual Hug, who won over a shorter 14-furlong trip at this venue just eight days ago.

Global Tycoon capped six straight frame finishes with a course-distance success here last month, while Ghostly was promoted to winner after being second past the post at Newcastle 12 days ago and could well build on that here.

With most of this competitive field entering calculations, our final nod goes to the Loughnane yard’s Pysanka, whose price would surely be much firmer but for an out-of-sorts performance at Newcastle last time out, when he finished last of ten behind the aforementioned Ghostly.

Prior to that run, this promising four-year-old had been progressing nicely throughout his summer campaign, culminating in a tight but tidy win over this very course and distance six weeks ago, when he finished comfortably clear of fourth-placed Ghostly on that occasion.

The amateur rider from his last outing is replaced by capable stable jockey Billy Loughnane, who has guided four of his last 13 rides into the winner’s enclosure over the last few days, making this seem a significant renewal of the partnership that won so impressively here just last month.

  • Suggested bet: Pysanka each-way in the 20:30 at Wolverhampton
