Windsor best bet: Improving Amazonian Dream primed for first season success

Windsor racecourse

Fresh from a 14/1 winner and a 10/1 third over the weekend, Steve Jones, who runs CD Systems on Tipstrr, is hoping to kick off the week in similar fashion with Monday’s Daily Bargain from Windsor.

15:45 Windsor: Champions Day on Sky Sports Racing Handicap (6 furlongs)

Early market leader Tribal Hunter still needs to prove himself in handicap company, so a better-value option has to be Amazonian Dream, who pulled nearly three lengths ahead of his closest rival when third of 13 in a 0-86 handicap at Salisbury earlier this month,

He runs off an unchanged mark here and has some very solid course form having been a regular here over the last two seasons and, though he is yet to win at this track, his last two visits strongly suggest that it won’t be very long before he does.

The first of those two August visits was for a much higher-graded Class 2 handicap in which he finished fourth of 13 over this trip, which was a big run in what was a Sprint Series Final and he runs off the same mark in this race, which is nothing like as strong.

His only visit since was for a 0-84 handicap, also over this course and distance, but this time on much quicker ground, and considering he got loose before the start, he did extremely well to finish a never-nearer third of 12, missing second place by just a neck.

Suggested bet:  Amazonian Dream in the 15:45 at Windsor

Had the ground been slower, he would probably have gone very close to winning and, now that he has proved himself over six furlongs on soft ground, the four year-old looks a good bet to take advantage of his current mark, which is fully 12 pounds lower than at the start of last season.

The booking of Ben Curtis takes the eye because he rides this track very well and also boasts figures of 5/9 when riding for Rod Millman so far this year.
