Tuesday top racing tip: The Menstone Gem looking to sparkle at Wetherby

Wetherby racecourse

From Tuesday’s 50 races, Tipstrr racing expert Steve Jones, who runs CD Systems Daily Bargain on Tipstrr, has narrowed the hundreds of runners down to his single best bet of the day at Wetherby.

At the prices, there are one or two who stand out from a value perspective, the obvious one being The Menstone Gem, who won a hugely competitive 20-runner handicap over the straight, galloping nine furlongs at Newmarket on his last turf outing in September.
He beat his reopposing stablemate, Masque Of Anarchy into second place by 1.5 lengths and in the context of today's lower-tier Class 4 event, that Newmarket form is very solid.
With William Pyle's valuable claim, this four-year-old is effectively a pound lower than he was for his comfortable Newmarket success whilst his stablemate, who is a much shorter price, is now three pounds higher.
Following that win, The Menstone Gem has been racing exclusively on the all-weather, landing a Class 4 handicap over 10 furlongs at Newcastle before running within a length of winning a Class 3 at Wolverhampton off a mark of 85.
Suggested bet: The Menstone Gem to win the 19:00 at Wetherby
If it turns out, which may easily be the case, that he is equally effective on turf (as his Newmarket win suggests), then he will be racing off a very attractive mark here.
The yard is in fine form with two winners from their last five runners, one of them being a handicap in which today's rider exploited his valuable claim to good effect.
Next best bet: Arch Moon to win the 19:00 at Wetherby
Of the others, Arch Moon won a 10-furlong handicap at Haydock last season by a clear six lengths off a mark of 72 and races under a very similar combination of conditions today off just 71.
He probably wouldn't have wanted these drying conditions, but the winning times on the day at Haydock were more in line with good than good-soft, so he is by no means disadvantaged today.
He made a solid enough return at Pontefract 13 days ago, and with his yard producing nine winners in the last couple of weeks, he could go very well under his winning rider from Haydock.
