Although winless in seven attempts on the flat, Scherbobalob has looked much more at home over hurdles, and broke his duck over this course and distance at the beginning of April.

This five-year-old gelding beat the opposing Force De Frap by three lengths on that occasion, albeit on slightly better terms, and he performed respectably enough to finish fifth of 12 at Stratford last time out when the combination of top weight over a longer trip finally took its toll in the final stages.

Claiming jockey Jay Tidball has ridden Scherbobalob enough times to know how to get the best out of him, and the jockey also knows his way around the Ludlow course, having guided five of his 13 rides here to victory.

While Scherbobalob's price has been dropping during the morning, he still holds decent each-way value, especially if you can find a bookie paying out on an extra place.
