Trainer Scott Dixon, who had a handicap winner here just the other day, is sure to have his stable star, Fine Wine, fully tuned up to make a winning return from a short break.
The six-year-old speedster is far better on Tapeta than on turf and four of his top five performances have come on it, with all four coming over five furlongs on straight tracks.
Most of his all-weather winning has been done over today’s c/d, over which he has now scored four times.
His four course and distance runs since February last year have produced figures of 1112, with his only defeat coming off a mark of 103.
Returning fresh from a break off a mark of 95, he looks an attractive proposition because in these circumstances last time out, he won a Class 2 handicap comfortably off 94.
In that race, today's main competitor, Alligator Alley, came in third, 2.25 lengths behind the horse that led the entire race, who was ridden by today's partner, Kieran O'Neill.

Fine Wine conceded 2lbs to Alligator Alley, so he looks like an attractive bet with the pair racing on level terms, and Fine Wine returning from a short break.
The pair clashed again over course and distance on New Year’s Day, finishing first and second in another Class 2 handicap.

That time, Alligator Alley came out on top but Fine Wine got involved In a pace duel up front and just paid for those exertions in the closing stages.
Fine Wine was 8lbs higher than he is today, with Alligator Alley 5lbs higher than today, so the pair have plenty to recommend them off their current marks.
But Fine Wine showed once again just how effective he can be when fresh by running within a length of the winner in a valuable five-furlong handicap on the York turf when returning from his next break in late May.
Suggested bet: Fine Wine to win the 1610 at Southwell
