Royal Ascot tips: Everlasting and Asian Daze tick each-way boxes in Sandringham Stakes

Waipiro and Tom Marquand at Royal Ascot

Our resident racing analyst, Andrew of Fiosrach, has been studying all the recent winning trends in order to narrow down the field for one of the most competitive handicaps of Royal Ascot week.

17:05 Royal Ascot: Sandringham Stakes (1 mile straight)

Thursday's trends-based selection earned us some each-way profit when 10/1 shot Fouroneohfever came fourth in the King George V Stakes, which made it three winning Royal Ascot days running after our 18/1 place with Temporize on Tuesday and 11/2 winner Wild Tiger on Wednesday.

We're hopeful of more of the same on day four of the Festival and once again we’ve got our eyes on a big-field handicap, which this time is for three-year-old fillies only.

Planet Sport Bet Royal Ascot Special: Bet £20+ cash on any runner in the race and if Everlasting finishes in the first 4 places, get a £5 Free Bet!

As usual, I am using the trends below to reduce the field and hopefully find the winner:

  • 18/22 – Had between 2 and 4 previous runs that season
  • 18/22 – Returned 12/1 or shorter in the betting
  • 17/22 – Had never run at Ascot before
  • 17/22 – Had won over at least 7f before
  • 16/22 – Placed in their previous race
  • 15/22 – Favourites that finished in the top 4
  • 14/22 – Carried 8-11 or more
  • 12/22 – Won their last race
  •   9/22 – Returned a double-figure price
  •   8/22 – Had exactly 3 runs already that season
  •   8/22 – Winning favourites (1 co, 1 joint)
  •   4/22 – Ridden by Jamie Spencer

Having applied the trends above I ended up with a shortlist of three horses and all are carrying double-figure prices at the time of writing:

Everlasting hails from the all-powerful Aiden O’Brien stable with Ryan Moore on board, and she arrives fresh from winning a decent Listed race at Navan last time, beating Asian Daze into second.

She now has a first-time visor to aid concentration, as she wavered off a straight run in the final stages. She now must give Asian Daze five pounds, which may see the half-length reversed here.

Both stable and jockey are in impressive form with strike rates over the last fortnight of 40% and 35% respectively at the time of writing.

Suggested bet (1): Everlasting each-way in the 15:05 at Royal Ascot

Richard Hughes saddles Fair Angelica for only her sixth outing, having seen her win four of her previous five, albeit at a lower class than this renewal.

She won a Class 4 fillies’ handicap last time out, having previously taken on the colts and run well, including winning at Newmarket to round off her juvenile campaign.

Fair Angelica has only run at less than a mile and looking at her breeding she might struggle to stay, especially with the uphill finish. She has gone up ten pounds for her most recent win so needs a career best to compete for places here.

As mentioned above, Asian Daze was beaten narrowly by Everlasting at Navan 13 days ago and she now receives five pounds, which might be enough to cause a reversal in those placings.

Asian Daze has been sold to Gai Waterhouse to race in Australia, but here he runs for Johnny Murtagh, who has a decent record when sending horses over to the UK with 22 percent of his runners either winning or placing.

Suggested bet (2): Asian Daze each-way in the 15:05 at Royal Ascot

This has been a tricky race to analyse as several of these three-year-olds are still improving and most are stepping up in class here.

With that in mind, I have decided to back the two fillies from the recent Navan race each-way, so shop around for extra places and best prices for Everlasting and Asian Daze.
