Monday free racing tip: Last-time-out winner primed to strike again on Newcastle all-weather
Newcastle’s all-weather track kicks off the racing week with a bumper nine-race card on Monday, and this middle-distance handicap could get punters off to a flying start.
16:10 Newcastle: Gamble Responsibly at BetUK Handicap (1½ miles)
The majority of this tight six-runner field will be taking realistic hopes of victory to the starting gates, but our tipster’s nod of approval goes in the direction of the bottom-weighted Annandale.
Jim Goldie’s gelding won at this venue in the last of his three two-year-old outings, and was last seen displaying similar winning style as a six-year-old just 18 days ago at Ayr.
Running impressively throughout over a slightly longer trip, Annandale finished a comfortable 1½ lengths clear of the reopposing Laudable, whose recent figures of 31112422 suggest that was a notable scalp and a good indication of form.
The subsequent 5lb rise from the handicapper looks to be of no concern on these terms and it's likely Annandale will be capable of holding his form strongly in this class 5 handicap, with that longer trip victory boding well for the challenge of Newcastle’s uphill finish.
The capable Paul Mulrennan has ridden Annadale many times in the past, and indeed was in the saddle for that last-time-out success at Ayr, so hopes are high that they can team up to similar effect to have a huge say in a race of this nature.
Suggested Bet: Annandale in the 16:10 at Newcastle
