The two early market leaders, Love De Vega and McLean House, are drawn in double figures, which doesn’t do either of them any favours, especially as both are front-runners.
A far more attractive bet is Revolutionise, a seven-furlong specialist who drops in grade and arrives in good form.
The eight-year-old raced against the pace bias when finishing fourth in a field of eight in a Class three contest over this trip at Chelmsford two weeks ago.
That was a race in which one of today’s favourites, Love De Vega, went from the front from a very good draw and eventually finished runner-up.
Revolutionise ran well under the circumstances and he is two lbs better off with Love De Vega this time and has a much better draw.
That run was the eight-year-old's third since returning from a 224-day break and he looks to be peaking again.
That being the case, he is handicapped to win because his last two runs at this venue, both over a mile in early 2022, were in Class two handicaps off marks of 89 and 93, so a Class four over his optimum trip of seven furlongs looks ready-made for him off his current mark of 80.
The yard had a Polytrack winner the other day and David Probert is in good form, having ridden two winners from his four Polytrack rides on New Year’s Eve.
Of the others, Sandy Paradise looks likely to run well from the inside berth.
He looks sure to come on again for a solid reappearance over this distance last month, his first run for 168 days, which saw him finish fourth of 11 in a Class four handicap despite racing too keenly on his first run back in action.
Suggested bet: Revolutionise to win the 2000 at Kempton
