Kempton racing tip (1900): Promising Humanity has shown promise beyond his low mark

Eagled-eyed horse racing tipster Steve Jones thinks Humanity has been wildly underestimated ahead of his handicap debut at Kempton.

John Gosden sent out Almuhit to finish runner-up in this race last year when the three-year-old was a well-backed favourite on what was his handicap debut.

The Gosden team can go one better with another three-year-old this time as Humanity also makes his handicap debut in this race.

Perhaps because of his wide draw, or the fact that he is yet to prove himself off his opening mark, the early market appeared to seriously underestimate his chance.

However, his opening mark of 82 would appear to significantly underestimate his potential.

A big clue can be gleaned from his career debut at Newcastle when he finished third of 12 in what now looks like a very strong 10-furlong maiden.

It was won by Chesspiece, who is now a Group-class middle-distance performer rated 109.

Only a length behind the winner and fractionally ahead of Humanity was Hadrianus, who then easily won over today’s course and distance on his second start and who went close in Listed company over 10 furlongs on his seasonal debut this term.

He was rated 104 after that run and, even though his form has dipped more recently, he was still rated 101 on his penultimate run and 99 when last seen a few weeks ago.

Given that Humanity not only ran on level terms with Hadrianus in that Newcastle maiden but also conceded three pounds to the Group-class winner, Chesspiece, he has to be of serious interest on his handicap debut off an opening mark of just 82.

Suggested bet: Humanity to win the 19:00 at Kempton
