Cheltenham Festival 2023: Gold Cup tips - Bravemansgame can gatecrash Irish party

After all the build-up the Gold Cup is finally here, and with thirteen top quality contenders lining up for National Hunt's blue riband, our friends at Tipstrr have shared their most popular tips.

The Cheltenham Gold Cup should need no introduction as the premier prize of National Hunt chasing, with 13 high-class chasers lining up to take on its gruelling three-and-a-quarter miles of undulating terrain punctuated by 22 challenging obstacles.

Its honours board contains a plethora of legendary horses, with names such as Dawn Run, Desert Orchid, Best Mate and Kauto Star springing readily to mind.

A Plus Tard is looking to join that illustrious roll call, but to do so he must beat a dozen rivals that include Bravemansgame, who is looking to upset the Irish contingent on St Patrick's Day and has been laid out for this Gold Cup bid.

Bouncing back from his only defeat in seven starts at Aintree last April, Bravemansgame followed up a season debut success at Wetherby with an imperious display on Boxing Day, when he left some top-class opposition 14 lengths behind him to land the prestigious King George VI Chase at Kempton.

Top tip: Bravemansgame

One of the horses beaten by Bravemansgame at Kempton was Ahoy Senor, who responded to that setback in some style to win the Cotswold Chase around the Prestbury Park circuit in January.

Leaving three of his Gold Cup rivals (Noble Yeats, Protektorat and Sounds Russian) in his wake, he was back to his best, and although he will need more here, he could well outrun his price to make the frame.
