Cheltenham each-way racing tips: Trends suggest Party Business can score
Trends analyst Andrew of Fiosrach has cast his expert eye over Saturday’s card at Cheltenham as the National Hunt season gets into full swing.
15:00 Cheltenham 3m - Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle
The first big meeting of the jumps season at Cheltenham and I have picked a twenty runner hurdle to get the jumps season trends analysis underway.
I have used the trends below to reduce the field to a more manageable number and hopefully find us a winner to start the season.
10/14 – Priced 17/2 or bigger in the betting
10/14 – Had run at Cheltenham before (4 winners)
10/14 – Carried 10-13 or less in weight
9/14 – Aged between 6-8 years-old
8/14 – Placed in the top 3 last time out
8/14 – Last ran 6 month+ ago
8/14 – Unplaced favourites
7/14 – Irish Bred
5/14 – Won last time out
3/14 – Winning favourites
2/14 – Mare winners
2/14 – Trained by Philip Hobbs
2/14 – Trained by Nigel Twiston-Davies
Party Business ran well at the end of 2022 season in a couple of decent hurdles winning at Grade 3 and looked very impressive.
That success saw his handicap mark rise to 141, but a few average performances last season saw him drop to 134, which is only two pounds above his last winning mark.
That makes him a contender here for his canny trainer.
Suggest bet: Party Business e/w in Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle (1500)
Hugos New Horse owned by one of Paul Nicholls’ leading owners the Stewart Family and has been impressive winning five of his seven starts to date.
Hugos New Horse won nicely at Ayr in April over a trip half a mile shorter, but there is nothing to suggest that he can’t get further.
The stable has started the season at a tremendous rate with a 28% strike rate in the last 14 days.

Willaston has won over both the course and at the distance and comes here following a wind operation to help his breathing.
Willaston is consistent with over 50% of his hurdle races finishing in the top three; however, this race is much tougher opposition, and he has only won at Class 2 level.
If the ground continues to dry out, I do think he has a chance of making the frame again.
Suggest bet: Willaston e/w in Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle (1500)
There are several Irish raiders in this race, and they must always be feared and Bugs Moran, We’llhavewan and Ringdufferin are all likely to be thereabouts at the finish.
Based on the trends I have decided to go for an each way bet on Party Business at a decent price, and I suggest you look around for additional places from the bookmakers.
