Bath free racing tips: Course-distance specialist poised to resume winning ways

Bath Racecourse main stand

Bath racecourse brings the curtain down on 2024 with its season finale, and this one-mile handicap looks like being one of the best races on the card, with a dozen capable contenders going to post.

For our best bet, we don’t feel the need to look any further than the early market leader, Albus Anne, who has made a healthy habit of saving her best performances for the Somerset track.

Her three career wins have all come over this course and distance, including her two most recent visits in mid-September and at the beginning of this month, both with around a couple of lengths in hand.

Jimmy Fox’s five-year-old doesn’t mind a bit of cut in the ground, but even she found the heavy ground a little too deep for her liking last time out at Windsor 17 days ago, but she still finished a very respectable third of 11, barely a length off the winner and fully eight lengths clear of fourth.

Most of her rivals arrive here with too many question marks next to their name,  and although her rating has climbed to 62, seven pounds of that is erased by the claim of jockey Tyrese Cameron and the willing mare can put in another big performance here.

Suggested Bet: Albus Anne in the 15:28 at Bath

If Albus Anne is a reliable yardstick of form and potential here, then each-way punters might be interested to know that King Of The Dance finished barely a couple of lengths behind her on his last appearance, which was over this course and distance seven weeks ago.

Bernard Llewellyn’s five-year-old was five pounds worse off than the winner that day, but will enjoy a seven-pound swing in his favour here, even with weight claims taken into account.

Aidan Keeley resumes his place in the saddle, and if he can coax a similar performance out of King Of The Dance here, the gelding could again be the biggest threat to the short-priced favourite, and at a very attractive each-way price.
