Ayr each-way-tips: Drop in class can lift Riot to third season success

This 7-furlong handicap might not grab the same attention as the Gold and Silver Cups earlier in the day, but there are enough capable performers to ensure we can look forward to an exciting sprint.

The withdrawal of early favourite Yaaser leaves Cold Stare at the top of the market, although backing him might be seen as either astute or unwise, depending on how he has recovered from his bold run to finish runner-up in the Bronze Cup here on Friday.
Skipping to the bottom of the betting, the eye is drawn to Paul Midgley’s lightly-raced filly Angel From Above, who arrives here as an improving unexposed three-year-old who could punch above her weight as an unknown quantity on her handicap debut.
Catching the collective eye within the Tipstrr camp, however, is David O’Meara’s experienced six-year-old Riot, who can probably be forgiven for looking out-of-sorts in first-time cheekpieces at Haydock last time out.

Despite carrying top weight, this significant drop in class should open the door for Riot to recapture the form he showed when last raced at this level, notably landing a 10-runner handicap at Doncaster four outings ago in July.
On board for that victory was the re-booked Daniel Tudhope, who will be looking to go one better than the three runner-up spots he landed in his last four rides here on Friday.
Obvious threats are likely to come in the shape of Cold Stare, Gainsbourg and Old Smoke, but if a first-time visor has the desired effect, then we can expect Riot to be right in the mix coming down the stretch.
Suggested bet: Riot each-way in the 16:45 at Ayr
