PANNING GOLD (9) stepped up to the mile for the first time last start at Turffontein Standside and after looking a winning chance halfway down the straight he fought on for second. Likely to push forward and race on the pace. Leading contender. AMERICAN REBEL (2) missed the placings two runs back then improved last start but found one better over 1m at this track, beaten a nose. Enjoys a drop in grade so he is a major player. KAROO GOLD (1) ran below expectations last time at Vaal, finishing eighth and beaten 9 lengths starting at 7/2. Nicely placed to turn things around. TROMBETTISTA (3) finished second last time over 6f at Vaal, beaten 5 lengths. Ready to go one better.
