STEEL IMPACT (9) was lining up for just the second time last start when second over 6½f at Cranbourne, beaten 1.5 lengths. Backmarker who gets home hard. Further improvement to come and this looks her chance. HOWLIN' RAIN (1) returned from a break with a solid fourth, winding up late at the end of 6f at Pakenham after settling well back. Will drift back but will be getting home hard. CASTLE ON HIGH (6) is a three-year-old gelding who is having his first run for the A & S Freedman stable. Resumes after filling a minor placing at his latest outing five months ago at Avondale. Hasn't trialled publicly but is in a nice race. Leading prospect. VANBRUGH CASTLE (3) resumes from a lay-off of nine months after closing off last campaign with five consecutive minor placings. Should camp just off the leaders. Deserves respect on best figures.
