HERB (4) made a nice return in a then met with solid backing but disappointed when ninth over 6½f at this track four weeks ago. Well placed to make amends. HEADSTOCK (7) was out of the money two runs back then again missed the frame last start when he was never in contention over 6f at this track, beaten 2.25 lengths into sixth. Likely improver with strong prospects. SPIRIT OF VARANASI (10) built on a nice second two starts back at Newcastle with success over 6½f at this track three weeks ago, getting home by a nose. Keagan Latham scored on her last time and retains the mount. Has her share of talent. Hard to beat in this suitable race. BIG APPLE (1) returns from a short break after finishing seventh over 6f at Newcastle. Kept ticking over since that run with a trial win at Queanbeyan. Cannot be left out.
