Carlisle nap March 10: Royal Arcade to provide amusement

A view of the grandstand at Carlisle Racecourse, October 2011

Carlisle’s Thursday March 10 card typifies some of the small fields around at the moment but it hasn’t put off Planet Sports tipster Jonathan Doidge from fancying one in the novices’ handicap chase.

Just six go to post for the Introducing Racing TV Novices' Handicap Chase (14:10) at Carlisle on Thursday but it still looks like it could shape up into a competitive contest.

That could help stabilise the market and give us a bit of value with topweight, Royal Arcade, who represents the Nicky Richards that is local to the track.
Thus far, he has been switching about between trips in three handicap chases, all at Ayr. He improved for the first of those when going close over an extended 2m4f (soft) in December. Then, after a short break, he ran well when third to Ardera Cross back there last month.
He was staying on that day and this step back up in trip to 2m5f looks ideal for him. He's dropped 1lb since that last run and those factors combined make him an attractive proposition.
So, it's Royal Arcade to deliver some amusement at Carlisle (14.10) on Thursday.
