Daily Nap December 26: Chantry House to give Nicky Henderson fourth King George

Chantry House on his way to win at Aintree, April 2021.

Boxing Day is always one of the best days on the racing calendar and this year is no exception. Planet Sport tipster Jonathan Doidge turns to the centre piece, the King George VI Chase for his nap.

15.05 Kempton - Chantry House

So here it is, Merry Christmas! And let's make it merrier with the winner of the big race on Boxing Day, the Ladbrokes King George VI Chase (15.05). It takes place, as ever, at Kempton Park and I'm siding with a horse whose star is still on the rise, Chantry House.

The race has for so long been second on the calendar only to the Cheltenham Gold Cup itself in terms of prestige over regulation fences. Trainer Nicky Henderson is no stranger to success, he trained Long Run to win the 2010 and 2012 renewals and added another with Might Bite in 2017.

He has another big chance here with Chantry House. The seven-year-old is officially rated 162, which means he has 15lb to find with Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Minella Indo and 10lbs to find with dual King George winner Clan Des Obeaux.

However, this Grade 1 chase-winner oozes their sort of class, we know he gets this trip and I think the pace that will be set by the likes of Frodon and perhaps Saint Calvados will make this a real stayers' test. He is by Yeats, meaning that he is likely to stay further than those unwanted Christmas house guests.

Unexposed, he looks an ideal type with the combination of speed and stamina required to lift this prize.
