Wolverhampton free racing tip: Dual course-distance winner looks set to complete hat-trick

Wolverhampton’s all-weather track stages Monday evening’s only meeting, with this stayer’s handicap likely to deliver one of the most competitive races on the card.

20:00 Wolverhampton: Sky Sports Racing Sky 415 Handicap (1¾ miles)

Ian Williams’ short-priced candidate, Simiyann, is expected to land the odds here, but with 17 winless attempts behind the favourite, we are plumping for a dual course-distance winner who looks likely to challenge the market leaders.

Black Smoke is the only horse in the line-up to hav acquainted himself with Wolverhampton’s winner’s enclosure, having won twice over this course and distance already this year.

The first of those wins came in March, and that success was repeated a month ago, when he saw off nine rivals with almost two lengths in hand in a lower-graded 0-55 handicap.

Mark Loughnane's seven-year-old was back here again 10 days ago, this time in tougher 0-65 company when he finished a decent third (a nose off second) behind Sir Mark Prescott’s highly-rated odds-on favourite, Apostle.

All of his six rivals in that race were rated higher than any that he faces here, and anything like that kind of performance should help Black Smoke chalk up more success at this venue.

Promising claimer Millie Wonnacott takes off a handy 5lb which only adds to Black Smoke’s chances of winning a race in which he already looks nicely treated..

Suggested Bet: Black Smoke each-way in the 20:00 at Wolverhampton
