Wolverhampton free racing tip: Outsider looking to defy odds in wide-open handicap

Wolverhampton race-goers have a bumper nine-race card to enjoy on Saturday evening, and this final contest could give them plenty to talk about as they wind their way home.

20:30 Wolverhampton: Racing Value at bet365 Handicap (1 mile 1½ furlongs)

Barely a couple of points cover the top four in the market, suggesting they are all as vulnerable as they are fancied, which could open the door for some each-way value elsewhere.

Catching the eye deeper in the betting is Panama City, whose four career wins include two at this venue over a slightly shorter 8.7 furlongs, both coming in his last eight outings over the last ten months.

This Ian McInnes-trained five-year-old was last seen tackling 10 furlongs at Beverley 11 days ago, when his eighth-of-11 finish can perhaps be excused as he was stuck way too wide in a strongly-run race that left him unable to make an impact.

The same could be applied to his previous outing at Southwell in August, when he was always struggling after a slow break, and then was twice badly hampered when trying to get himself involved.

This gelded son of Iffraj has proven to be more effective on all-weather tracks recently, and that could be even more the case now that he is back down to his last winning mark of 61.

That weight is further reduced by the useful three-pound allowance of claimer Harry Burns, who has ridden Panama City several times before, and will be looking for a trouble-free round to defy his hefty odds and put him in contention for a frame finish.

Suggested Bet: Panama City each-way in the 20:30 at Wolverhampton
