Southwell racing tip for Tuesday: Barneys Bay poised to end win drought
It has been almost two years since Barneys Bay was last in the winners' enclosure but Tipstrr each-way pundit Lem Tips believes the five-year-old is set to end that barren run at Southwell on Tuesday.
Barneys Bay looks a very interesting prospect as he steps back up in trip at Southwell after several notable performances over seven furlongs at the track recently.
The five-year-old confirmed his stamina for the extra furlong when finishing a creditable third of nine at Newcastle 12 days ago, when he was headed one furlong out but stayed on for an each-way place
A previous course winner at Southwell, the Tim Easterby gelding finished fourth here in early January in a class 4 handicap, keeping on well at the finish, and he had shaped up similarly in a class 4 handicap in November when finishing fifth of 14.
Barney's Bay is back in class 5 company here to tackle the mile trip again, and he looks poised to get another win on the board after 21 unsuccessful attempts since back-to-back successes at Thirsk and here, both of which had today's rider, David Allan, in the saddle.
I would be pricing this horse at 9/2 to win here and anything 6/1 and above holds that each-way value.
