Thursday's Ayr racing tips: Drop in trip could suit Remembering
Planet Sport tipsters head to Scotland for the first day of the Ayr Gold Cup festival on Thursday, September 15.
The opening day of Scotland's richest Flat race meeting serves up one of the oldest races run at the track - the Kilkerran Cup.
Here's a quick list of our tips with some more detail on our highlighted horses below. You can also get all the latest racecards and results from Ayr by using the Planet Sport live centre.
Selections:
13:20 (Ayr) Time Traveller
13:50 (Ayr) Power Of Gold
14:25 (Ayr) Tanasoq
15:00 (Ayr) Al Mubhir
15:35 (Ayr) Remembering
16:10 (Ayr) Asdaa
16:45 (Ayr) Shimmering Sands
17:20 (Ayr) Monhammer
15:00 (Ayr) Al Mubhir
Al Mubhir can strike forĀ William Haggas and Tom Marquand in the Virgin Bet Kilkerran Cup Handicap.
The three-year-old will be having just his fifth career start and after making a decent start to his handicapping career, he must be one for the shortlist.
Winner of a Newmarket maiden at the backend of last term, Al Mubhir was not disgraced in subsequent conditions and novice runs before shaping with plenty of promise when beaten just under three lengths off a mark of 91 at Goodwood last month.
While no match for Savvy Victory, it was a decent return from a 100-day break and Al Mubhir should strip much fitter for the outing.
15:35 (Ayr) Remembering
Remembering could also be on the mark for the Somerville Lodge team in the British Stallion Studs Scottish Premier Series EBF Fillies' Handicap.
Placed on two initial starts the beginning of the year, including a distant third behind Emily Upjohn on her racecourse bow, Remembering was given a bit of time over the summer and that patience paid dividends as she returned with a Catterick novice win last month.
She raced freely that day, making all over a mile and a half, but it was her first start for three months so her exuberance could be put down to freshness and while the Frankel filly drops back to 10 furlongs here, that may not be a negative.
