Sunday's Ascot racing tips: Thyme White just right for Paul Nicholls

Ascot-Racecourse-Stand

Planet Sport tipsters have a Sunday over the Ascot jumps to get their teeth stuck into on Match 27.

Sunday is a day for wandering about in your dressing gown and ignoring the washing up, but with the weather set fair maybe a trip to Ascot could be on the cards.
However, if your dressing gown is really comfy why not have a dabble with these Planet Sport tips from the comfort of your sofa.

You can follow all the action from Planet Sport's live Ascot race centre, but first here's a quick look at what we are tipping today.

13:00 Ascot - Fifty Ball
13:35 Ascot - Chavez

14:10 Ascot - Thyme White

14:45 Ascot - Dr T J Eckleburg

15:20 Ascot - Not Available
15:55 Ascot - Some Chaos

16:30 Ascot - Law Of Gold

14:10 Ascot - Thyme White

The decision to sidestep the Cheltenham Festival with Thyme White can pay off for Paul Nicholls in the Garth Hunt Pony Club Novices' Handicap Chase.
The Ditcheat handler was making positive noises about the six-year-old's chances in the Grand Annual at the showpiece meeting, but like several of his stablemates he was pulled out on account of the rain-softened ground.
That will not be a problem this weekend, though, and a mark of 142 - 8lb higher than when winning on his latest outing at Newbury - does look workable.

14:45 Ascot - Dr T J Eckleburg

Dr T J Eckleburg could be the answer to the Colts & Fillies Club Juvenile Handicap Hurdle.
Trainer Olly Murphy was lining up the Ludlow and Taunton winner for the Boodles at the Festival, but he did not make the cut after being on the reserve list. Compensation awaits.

16:30 Ascot - Law Of Gold

Just the two head to post for this hunters' chase, but it still seems anything but a foregone conclusion.
Both runners failed to complete on their most recent start, although ratings have Adrien Du Pont 6lb superior to his sole rival.

However, Law Of Gold got the better of the Paul Nicholls-trained gelding at Stratford last May and the selection can uphold that form here. The son of Gold Well has only had seven starts in this sphere (three wins) and the point-to-point winner may have a bit more to offer yet.
