Saturday's Uttoxeter racing tips: Screaming Colours a good shout in the Midlands Grand National

Uttoxeter

With Cheltenham finished, the racing action doesn’t let up and Planet Sport moves to Midlands National day at Uttoxeter. Pete Farries is screaming from the rooftops about an Irish raider.

Here's some more detail on Pete's three main picks from Uttoxeter on Saturday, March 19.

15.35 Uttoxeter - Screaming Colours

Pete is keen to get stuck into the four miles, two furlong long-range test of the Boulton Group Midlands Grand National and he may have found value in Screaming Colours.

A fourth in the race last year was no disgrace and William Durkan's runner was second in the Cork Grand National last time out.
Apprentice Conor Orr gets the leg up and here is why Pete isn't being quiet about Screaming Colours.
"My star pick is going to be the Durkan runner of Screaming Colours in this four mile mile marathon of course the Midlands Grand National."
"Now this horse was fourth in this race last year and was not at their best at that run either. I would say the recent form at Punchestown for example, loads of second places, getting into the mix and looked very very good."
"I think Screaming Colours has just got a good chance of going on to win."

16.10 Uttoxeter - Branson Missouri

Harry Dunlop is best known for his flat runners but Branson Missouri looks a good shout for this Platinum Jubilee Mares' Handicap Hurdle.

A second last time around at Wincanton was reasonable enough and before that, Brandon Missouri posted a course and distance win here.

The capable Sam Twiston-Davies takes the reins and here is a snippet of why Branson Missouri can make life miserable for the bookies.
"Now, in and around the favourite mark, it is going to be probably this horse or Gaot who goes on to be favourite but I really like the look of this one. Was superb at Wincanton last time around, finishing second in a race where they ran very very well and on previous showing here at Uttoxeter, went on to be victorious in what was a very similar trip and importantly what will likely be very similar ground."
"So for me, this is a horse that has got a really good chance, yes one of the shorter prices across the entire of the Uttoxeter card but for me, Branson Missouri for the Dunlop yard is a very good way to go."

14.25 Uttoxeter - Fuji Flight

Venetia Williams has a decent Cheltenham and she teams up again with jockey Lucy Turner who scored with 40/1 shot Chambard at the Festival.
This one will go off a lot shorter and should do given the seven-year-old is chasing the hat-trick.

Fuji Flight can build on victories at Hereford and Newbury in the Trinity Create Novices' Handicap Chase and here's why Pete thinks it'll happen.

"Venetia Williams did have, of course, some high points at Cheltenham including a very good win from L'Homme Presse… Here though Fuji Flight is showing some similar winning form. Back to back victories, including at Newbury last time.

This is a three mile race and what impressed me about this horse, has won over some fairly differing trips. Just over two miles, just over three so settled down at three miles, Fuji Flight should be very very decent."
