Saturday ITV Racing Tips: Best bets for Haydock, Beverley and Chester

13.45 Haydock - Clarendon House

Dragon Symbol is the best of these on official ratings and would be a shoe-in if returning to the sort of from that saw him finish runner-up twice in Group 1s last season.
However, he's disappointed on his last three starts, including on his reappearance at York earlier this month, when folding quickly in the closing stages, and he makes little appeal at short odds.

He's taken on with Robert Cowell's Clarendon House, who was beaten a head by the race-fit Raasel on his seasonal reappearance and now enjoys a 5lb pull with that horse.

His subsequent fourth in a French Group 3 was a little disappointing given he was sent off at 5/2, but the ground was softer than ideal on that occasion and much better can be expected on this sounder surface.

14.05 Beverley - Distinguished Lady

Absolutelyflawless kept her unbeaten record intact at the Chester May meeting and is clearly useful, but the form of that race is dubious as the leaders overdid it - the favourite Star Of Lady M, in particular - and the winning time was much slower than the following handicap.
At shortish odds she's opposed with Richard Hannon's Distinguished Lady, whose sales price rocketed to 400,000gns at the breeze-ups after costing 75,000euros as a yearling and is entitled to improve plenty on her debut third at Newmarket earlier this month.
That looked a hot renewal of a 6f novice with an impressive roll of honour - subsequent Albany Stakes winner Daahyeh (20019) and this season's 1,000 Guineas heroine Cachet (2021) started out in it - and the Hannon filly wasn't helped by being pestered for the lead and then being hampered inside the final furlong.
The speed she showed on that occasion suggests she won't be inconvenienced by dropping back to this stiff 5f and she has a plum draw in stall one next to the far rail. Her stable won this with Grizzel in 2016.

14.20 Haydock - Mahrajaan

Newmarket winner Contact will find this 1m4f handicap tougher having been raised 5lb to a career-high mark, while York second Forza Orta is also up in the weights and might appreciate a greater stamina test having appeared well suited to the step up to 1m5f when scoring at Hamilton previously.

William Haggas' Mahrajaan lacks a run this term, which is clearly a negative - some market support would therefore be encouraging - but he was seriously progressive as a three-year-old, winning three of his five starts, including when beating Forza Orta at Leicester, and looks the sort to do even better at four.

With his stable in irresistible form - 17-41, 41%, in the last fortnight - and boasting a decent 26% strike rate at this track, he may well be up to defying a mark of 96 on what is just his third start in handicap company.
Of those at much bigger prices, Mythical is interesting on his first start for West Yorkshire-based Simon Whitaker, having been trained by Aidan O'Brien and his son Joseph previously.
He's done most of his running in Group company, including when a 100/1 shot for the 2020 Epsom Derby won by Serpentine, and he should be able to make his mark in handicaps off his current rating of 97 if retaining any of his old ability. He's worth watching in the betting.

14.40 Beverley - Wobwobwob

Percy's Lad is clearly the one they all have to beat in this 7f handicap on his bid for a hat-trick after wins at Yarmouth and Nottingham, but there are grounds for taking him on at shortish odds.

He's only beaten nine horses in total over the course of those two wins and was allowed a soft lead last time in a race his main market rival unseated and hampered others in the straight. He's also gone up 6lb for that.
Wobwobwob could only finish eighth at York on his most recent outing but he did well to finish as close as he did from stall one, having to make his move on the far side and away from the leaders stands' side, and he was a respectable fourth over an inadequate 6f before that.

A fair sort at 7f last year, he has been dropped 1lb since that York effort and also has the services of in-form apprentice Ryan Sexton, who is proving good value for his 5lb claim.

14.55 Haydock - Sea La Rosa

Jessica Harrington's Climate wasn't disgraced in Group 3 company on her final two starts last season and is entitled to be sharper for her reappearance run at Newmarket, but she does have her stamina to prove on her first try over 1m4f.

There are no such concerns over William Haggas' Sea La Rosa, who went from strength to strength last season, winning four of her six starts and rounding off with a powerful display in a 1m5f Listed contest run in a good time.

The best may be yet to come from the daughter of Sea The Stars and, while she lacks a run this afternoon, she won first time up last term and hails from a stable that can do little wrong at present.
Of the remainder, Sir Michael Stoute's Noon Star is respected, although she now has something to prove having run below her best at the Dante meeting with no apparent excuse.

15.15 Beverley - Chateau

Whistle And Flute justified market support with a smooth success at Bath on his racecourse debut and went down fighting on his subsequent start at Ascot in April, when giving the winner Bakeel 3lb.
He makes more appeal than Jm Jungle, whose narrow Hamilton success doesn't look the strongest of form, and Rogue Spirit, who made the most of his inside draw when scoring over track and trip on his debut and has been gelded since.

But Andrew Balding's Chateau, a stablemate of Bakeel, appeals more at the odds having caught the eye when finishing third on his debut at Salisbury, given he didn't enjoy the best of runs and ran as if needing it.

He's a brother to a 1m Listed winner but doesn't look short of pace by any means and this stiff 5f could prove ideal at this stage of his career, with the booking of William Buick the icing on the cake.

15.30 Haydock - Laneqash

Sunray Major will find this far easier than the Group 1 Lockinge he contested last time and the way his run petered out close home at Newbury suggest the drop back to 7f may suit him.

However, at bigger odds we prefer the chances of Roger Varian's lightly-raced Laneqash, who is rated 4lb superior and showed he goes well fresh when nearly winning the Group 3 Hungerford Stakes on his return to action last season, having also won on his debut at two.

He has been gelded since finishing a respectable fourth in a Newmarket Group 2 last September and while he'll need the ground to dry out from the current good to soft as he prefers it fast, the weather forecast is encouraging in that respect.
Andrew Balding's Happy Power, who is now 6-14 over this trip after winning a three-runner Listed event at Leicester last month, is respected most of the rest.

15.45 Chester - Azano

Boardman didn't get the rub of the green when fifth here two starts back but he's won either side of that and, having been dealt a favourable draw in stall two, he deserves to be favourite for all he's never won off a mark as high as today's.
Fools Rush In, a dual winner over track and trip last year and fourth on his first start for Hugo Palmer at the May meeting here, is also worth considering and might have been the pick had his stable been in better from.

However, we're drawn to the bigger odds available for David O'Meara's Azano, who made all to land a Listed contest over Redcar's straight 7f last October but is probably even better around a bend.

Formerly with John Gosden, who trained him to win a French Group 3, his tendency to go off fast in front plays to his advantage around here and, if Shane Gray can grab a spot against the inside running rail from box four, he could prove hard to catch.
